Here for Good is a legal charity that was set up to plug gaps where no legal aid is available. When the war in Ukraine started in February 2022, we used our model to respond to the urgent need for legal advice under the Homes for Ukraine and Ukraine Family Schemes. Within a couple of weeks we had assembled a legal team at our partner law firm Wilson Solicitors LLP in London. We set up a free advice phone line and took on referrals to support with the application forms.
As we come up to the anniversary, we reflect on how we have been able to help those seeking fleeing Ukraine to seek safety in the UK to date.
- Our Ukraine advice service has received over 350 referrals from community organisations and support organisations.
- To date we have assisted over 600 individuals
- We have provided 1-2-1 in-depth support to 50 individuals with particularly complex cases
- Over 45 of our clients were unaccompanied young people who were caught in the visa application system.
Our advice service will continue for as long as there is a need for high-quality, reliable and free support to those fleeing Ukraine.
